Joel is an oil painter and sculptor who works on the surreal and narrative side of things. A colorist who loves to work with deep, rich hues, he is always searching for something new in shape, motion, texture, and especially, content.
He’s been in many juried exhibitions and has gallery representation in several southern states. Joel has done commissions of various sorts, numerous pieces for charitable benefits, and cover art for thirty or more books.
His current work features heavy application of paint which contributes directly to the mood and narrative. By creating provocative and involved fields of color, he can search for the secrets they hold.
Joel lives in Atlanta where he paints every day and also teaches a popular Introduction to Oil Painting class. His studio is in the Tula Art Center.
