Cat’s work includes both ethereal landscapes and abstract designs in acrylic and mixed media on canvas and birch supports. “The subjects I choose to paint either originate from Mother Nature or are inspired by her”. After morning meditation Cat begins her day in the studio. Landscapes emerge after applying a dozen or more thin layers of glazes over gesso. Viewers are often interested to know “where” the landscape is from. “I believe they emerge from my memories of being by the water and the serenity and beauty of nature itself”.

Well-known for her mixed media paintings on birch, the “outside of the box” series integrates handmade clay tiles into their design. Dubbed “cookies” by Cat, she makes several hundred at the beginning of each year at a local ceramics studio. “Once the textural domains are painted, it is easy to see where the cookies belong”. They live happily on their own or in large groups for private residences, hospitals, or hotels.

Collectors of Cat’s work agree on one thing: they love the color, texture, and feel of her work, and they love having it in their homes.
